What do you want from an MP3 store?

October 5th, 2009 § 0

Big Scary Monsters (one of the UK’s premier one-man independent labels, in case you didn’t know) has recently started selling MP3s; I’ve tried out the store myself by purchasing a Pulled Apart By Horses EP. It’s all good; the manually sent email with the download link took a while to arrive, but we’re promised that an automated system will be in place soon.

Meanwhile, Kev BSM has asked in a blog post what we want to get when you buy MP3s. It’s a question that has been asked ten thousand times before, but this time your answers could directly affect the approach a label takes. If you care about music and digital distribution then please do weigh in.

P.S. while I’m mentioning one-man independent labels that I like, Holy Roar has just put up pre-orders for the new Maths album. Check it!
