Del.icio.us links for March 10th through March 11th:
- Dave Hause on MySpace Music – Solo project from The Loved Ones vocalist.
- Noise By Numbers on MySpace Music – “Former Screeching Weasel and current Riverdales/The Methadones member Dan Schafer has joined Neil Hennessy The Lawrence Arms/The Falcon/Smoking Popes to form Noise By Numbers. The band is influenced by bands like Husker Du, The Replacements and others.”
- Reasons to care about Racefail « Torque Control – For those who don’t know, what is being called Racefail has been rolling along for two months now, mostly but far from exclusively on livejournal. It has been, at various times, a discussion about race and culture as explored in science fiction and fantasy, a discussion about racial and cultural diversity in fandom, and a discussion about the terms on which discussions of race and culture as explored in science fiction and fantasy should take place within fandom; and it has included numerous exchanges on, primarily, the latter of those topics that couldn’t be described as anything so polite as a discussion.
- verb_noire – Community Profile – The mission: To celebrate the works of talented, underrepresented authors and deliver them to a readership that demands more. What does that mean? That if you’re a talented writer with an awesome, original story about a POC girl/guy/transgendered character, there is a place for you. And that if you’re a sci-fi/fantasy fan who has grown tired of the constant whitewashing of these genres, there is a place for you, too.
- George Monbiot: Top 10 climate change deniers | Environment | guardian.co.uk – “With the Heartland Institute’s annual jamboree for climate deniers in full swing in New York here’s my shortlist of people who have done most for the denialist cause – in playing card form.” Frivolous, but a useful summary.
- No Rock And Roll Fun: PRS v Google Round-up – Much, much more scattering of reaction from around the world to Google’s decision to pull music videos off YouTube.
- METRIC on MySpace Music – This MySpace page hurts my face and brain, but after unblocking all the Flash elements I eventually found some music that was, in fact, pretty good electro/indie pop fare.
- Punknews.org | Propagandhi – Album stream of Propagandhi’s long-awaited latest offering, ‘Supporting Caste’. Political hardcore punk at its goddamn finest.
