Del.icio.us links for January 22nd through January 23rd:
- DEAD SWANS – (sign to BRIDGE NINE records!) on MySpace Music – Fast and loud hardcore. Not breaking any boundaries but decent enough.
- Broadcasters refuse to air Gaza charity appeal | World news | guardian.co.uk – “The BBC has refused to broadcast a national humanitarian appeal for Gaza, leaving aid agencies with a potential shortfall of millions of pounds in donations.” There’s that famous unbiased journalism again!
- Punknews.org | Bomb the Music Industry!: Episode 1 – “Preparation for this tour has been weird. Not only am I going at this by myself for the first time ever, but because I have the opportunity to, I am dead set on playing every Bomb the Music Industry! song I’ve ever written on this trip.”
- Punknews.org | Lifter Puller to release anthology – “Famed indie rock band Lifter Puller have recently announced plans to put out an anthology on the band’s website. Not much information is given, except for that it’s planned to be released in 2009 along with a book.”
- jean genet on MySpace Music – #you’ve got a shit job but your punters are hot / nothing else to do but work out if they’re gay or not# :D
- drunk granny on MySpace Music – “Awkward post-Ladyfest pop played with conviction- loping, yelping, more or less harmonising, meandering, and moving. We need the weak voices. We need the outsiders who find each other and build up ever greater safety in ever greater numbers. Or… as they would have it.” – Plan B
- Slorder on MySpace Music – New band from long-time Descendents / ALL guitarist.
- Secret Trial Five on MySpace Music – Another Taqwacore band, but this one is really not very good… blog’s worth a read though.
- Al-Thawra (CD OUT NOW!!!) on MySpace Music – Taqwacore band. Pretty crude but I like the combination of really heavy 90s crust punk with elements of traditional Middle Eastern music (drums in Wahdi, flute in A Las Cinco).
